Hartford (October 19, 2010)—The Connecticut Clean Cities Coalitions announced today their upcoming Clean Fuels and Vehicles Technology Expo at the Connecticut Expo Center, Thursday, October 21 from 8 am to 3 pm.
This one-day event features a variety of presentations and addresses designed to inform and/or recruit Connecticut area businesses to own or use alternative fuel vehicles in their daily business practices. Registration is FREE, but required — please visit www.ct-ccc.org.
The CTCCFF project represents the largest project of its kind in the history of the state and involves a variety of alternative fuels including Compressed Natural Gas, Liquid Natural Gas, Hydrogen Fueling, Biodiesel and High Capacity Electric Charging. CTCCFF Project grants are funding a four year, alternative fuels project servicing more than 30 partners, 10 alternative fuel stations, and more than 250 alternative fuel vehicles throughout the state.
In addition to addresses and presentations, expo attendees will be offered the opportunity to commit to supporting the goals of the Clean Cities program. Clean Cities stakeholders will be encouraged to commit to investigating ways of introducing alternative fuels into their businesses, and to act as evangelists for the Department of Energy’s Clean Cities programs.
In return for their commitment to the Clean Cities programs, stakeholders will receive a variety of benefits, free of charge. Specific advantages to being a Clean Cities stakeholder include assistance in pursuing exclusive grants, publicity, networking opportunities and access to relevant information on alternative fuel market development and other issues.
“This is a great opportunity for Connecticut area businesses and organizations to expand our influence. We (the coalitions) offer interested parties the opportunity to speak with one voice on issues of clean air, the environment, independence from foreign energy and adoption of new technology in the mass transit and business transportation sectors,” said Norwich Clean Cities Coalition Coordinator, Pete Polubiatko. “All interested parties are welcome to attend the Connecticut Clean Cities Expo and find out more about our collective organizations,” he added.
Besides discussion of stakeholder benefits, expo attendees will also be treated to a variety of exhibits and a keynote address by Congressman John Larson of Connecticut’s 1st Congressional District. Sponsored by all four of the Connecticut Clean Cities organizations, (Southwestern Connecticut, Greater New Haven, Norwich and Capitol [covering the greater Hartford area]), the Expo’s panel of alternative fuel experts will discuss achievements and accomplishments of the Connecticut Clean Cities Future Fuels Project, (CTCCFF), a $29 million program, funded through a public private partnership; a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, funded by the Department of Energy and non-public funds provided by members of the project team.

Anti-Clean Energy Pundit Unhinged By Basic Question: Are You Bankrolled By Fossil Fuels?

The fossil fuel lobby aggressively uses lobbying and propaganda to block public health protections, manipulate the energy debate, defend their massive government handouts and attack clean energy sources that threaten to displace them.

No tool goes unused: Traditional lobbying, “Super PAC” donations, software that floods opinion websites with favorable comments, and a network of well-funded front groups and commentators who launder fossil fuel industry talking points.

Robert Bryce and, his employer, The Manhattan Institute are among the most aggressive of a growing class of talkers underwritten by fossil fuels to write commentary talking down clean energy and playing down the cost and public health problems of fossil fuel dependence.

Bryce has written four books and appeared in hundreds of articles and opinion pieces, from the conservative National Review, to mainstream media outlets such as The New York Times, CNN, National Public Radio and PBS. Mr. Bryce is quickly securing the top position as the leading multi-million dollar marketer for fossil fuels.

Bryce, a former journalist, has consistently been able to position himself as an intellectually independent energy expert. He has never acknowledged fossil fuel underwriting – though Manhattan Institute records show that since 1985, it has received $6.7 million from fossil fuel interests, including the Koch brothers and ExxonMobil.

I asked Bryce if he had financial ties to the fossil fuel industry after his debate appearance before the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners conference on Monday. Not only did Bryce refuse to answer the question, he also launched into an angry, finger-pointing tirade saying that I’d “made up” the amount of fossil fuel support documented by Manhattan Institute records.

As 50 current and former journalists told The New York Times in a petition we launched last year, it’s fine for Bryce to echo fossil fuel talking points. But it’s not acceptable for him to hide that he’s doing that for the fossil fuel industry and leave himself positioned in bylines as somehow intellectually honest. Based on records and Bryce’s response, it seems pretty clear that Bryce is functioning as a paid spokesman of the natural gas industry (and other fossil fuels). But wearing that on his sleeve would lose his “echo chamber” effect because he wouldn’t be the seemingly independent voice that fossil fuel industries need to say things they don’t have the credibility to say themselves.

Note: Based on our experience from last year’s True Ties petition, this will draw a pretty aggressive response from Bryce’s fellow travelers, such as Washington Examiner Editorial Page Editor, Mark Tapscott (CPAC “conservative journalist of the year”), and National Review Online Editor, Ed Craig, a former Manhattan Institute PR guy. Shouldn’t "clean energy now" be the only serious spiritual question of our age?

If religion is about visions .. shouldn’t we collectively be visualising this and politically and spiritually demanding it .. We have the engineering minds … We have MIT graduates every year .. but they go to work for lockheed to build a new unmanned vehicle(predator drone) to deliver destructive weapons systems .. "tactical to practical" has become the mantra of the trickle down of research to the public sector’s eventual benefits .. But why not "practical" first .. Oil moguls have much at stake .. so much for them to gain by the petroleum tap slowly going dry .. and the profitable shortages and wars …
The technology is discovered! .. No dirty greenhouse byproducts in burning pure hydrogen from hydrogencell technology .. but terrestially gleaning it from natural gas is a big greenhouse emitter (sorry you who misassume it can be derived from ocean water-you are mistaken)..
So where is abundant pure hydrogen to be had? .. In space all around us … Just need a strong space
to start tanking in down .. Shouldn’t the priority of Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus , Bhuddhists and all others be .. to stop our politicians catering to the oil and arms magnates .. and get us clean energy now!
Why can’t stepping into space peacefully to harness resources become tghe priorities of our industries rather than weapons production .. and dirty petrochemical burning for an energy consumption we simply will not wean from?

So far alnitaka has a smooth lead though.. reading im a few times- I feel he may even be affirming that the hydrogen is attainable there in space .. but still- this isn’t a chemistry oriented question .. doesn’t anyone see the "spirituality" that could be so inherent to this question?.. what is more sacred than the continuation of our planet and life? … anyone?

Personally I believe engineering minds like "alnitaka" above need to see the potentialities .. secondly because we are what we are "socioeconomically" .. financiers will simply need to see the "capital" potentials of such a transformation, to the point of overwhelming the vested interests that would like to keep it as is to our collective ruin .. Unfortunately, hydrogen does not exist on this planet, or not at least like oil does. Most of the hydrogen that the Earth ever had escaped because Earth’s gravity can’t hold it. Almost all the hydrogen on the Earth is in the oceans as part of H2O. It is going to be hard to set up a system of using hydrogen, but it probably can be done. Solar-powered electrolysis plants take the hydrogen out of water. Then the hydrogen can be used as fuel. A problem with this is that hydrogen’s molecule is so small that it is hard to find a container to hold it. We may have to weight it down with a bigger molecule, such as carbon atoms, each of which can hold onto 4 hydrogens. But guess what? This is natural gas. We do have a dwindling supply of that, but I suppose electrolysis combined with carbon could produce synthetic natural gas, which is then used as a fuel.

We need to do this as we are running out of oil and other fossil fuels. But it is not going to be easy.

The environment:
• It is absolutely criminal to waste natural resources and burn anything without reason or thought about hidden consequences. We need to move on to clean and renewable energy, regardless of the profit structure of capitalistic demands.
• It is criminal that governments are not allowing scientific progress to take charge of environmental action. Scientists should take charge of environmental action.
• We need to do better at taking care of the environment whatever it costs us. This would include protecting rare species of animal, plant and all other forms of life in order to protect the balance of the ecosystems, and in turn the balance of the earth.
• There must be some environmental considerations to be made before making a decision.
• It’s not just the people that need to take action in regards to the environment; this is after all a cooperative effort. Therefore, the government needs to take considerable action to solve the environmental problems, regardless of the affects it has on the economy.
• Corporations can’t be trusted to take beneficial action on the environment, so they need a degree of regulation.

What alignment represent these views? Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, Lawful Neutral, True Neutral, Chaotic Neutral, Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil or Chaotic Evil?

Single mom. Low energy. House = pigsty. how common is this?

My house is in such a bad state that i do not know where to start. additionally, today i have no energy. some days i have a burst of energy and clean it but today i have none.
i don’t know what to do, or where to start ind escribing my problem, but i need to know: are there any other single mothers out there whose house is messy oram i the only one?

i have no support around me and noone i can live child with. i purposefully moved 500 miles away from my family to get away from abusive father of child.

can someone give me some advice please. don’t bother writing if your advice is to see a professional of any sort as i simply refuse to do this for many various reasons, one of which is, it is not helpful. also dont writse suggesting i leave him withsomeone as there is noone to leave him with, even for one hour. and i really mean that.,

need some knowledge that i am not the only one. id ont’ even have the energy to smile today and am barely scraping by. though if you’re a mom that involves more than it does if you’re not. help./

I’m a military wife with 3 kids. My husband has ironicly done 3 tours (15 months each). We never have any family nearby. My house is a mess. Constantly. I make sure to put aside 1-2 days a week to attempt to get back on track, but it usually gets messed up within an hour. This is normal.

As my mother-in-law would say: "A messy house, is a LIVED IN house." She’s a genius. I almost never have energy and naptime is a blessing.

After we bought our house, I bought a playset. Keeps them entertained for hours. Love that thing. I watch them outside playing on it for hours. Great time to relax.
