If you REALLY looked at the facts you will find their claims of cheap no polution cars are based on Nuclear, Wind & Solar Power. They are NOT more efficient than IC engines.

@TheVman551 Any method of compressing air creates waste heat. There is no way around it.
You need to understand that Thermodynamics shows that there are efficiency limits on this.
Same thing with internal combustion, (about 25%)
Your trying to say that someone down the road will figure out a way around this problem
I could say the same about gas/diesel motors, that someone will figure a better way.
You need to examine the science on this to understand how it all works.

@Texmurphy51 you seem to completely disregard my 2nd sentance. there are other methods to compress air into a tank. for example, electric. this car s still a prototype. and there are tons of electric air compressor models. im VERY sure there are high powered electric air compressors. i will admit, you have a point. it takes a shitload of energy to fill a air tank, but im sure we arent that far away from finding a new method. (Friendly comment.)

@fizzguts who the said hand crank? i said WEIGHT. and i know my facts. Look up the C.A.T. (clean Air Transportation), i goes about 100 miles on a full tank of air, i believe. the brakes also have that weight/inertia air compressor i was talking about, when you brake, it adds air into the tank.

@TheVman551 Do some research This piece of crap has only ever been shown with a 5 mile range compressing air tosses away bucket loads of energy as heat. The 6kw 3500psi compressor you need to run for 6 hours to recharge this box is not something you can manually hand crank.
Compressed air powered vehicles date back to the 1890′s see Douglas Selfs Museum of Retrotech and then just like now they are short range and horribly inefficient. Basic inescapable physics

No I understand basic Physics.
You can look up how much energy loss there is in compressing air,
how efficient an air motor is & how efficient an IC engine is.
Compressing air is about 54% efficient, HOWEVER power plants are 40%, there is 10% loss in the electric lines also. When you add it up there is more loss is greater than running the car on gas.
If you took that air car with the same HP gas motor it would use less energy

An air car uses alot less gass than a regular car, you answerd your own question. if F.F. air compressors are being used already, whats the harm of using it on a car? you need less gas to power an air compressor than a car. It comes from Fossil Fuel, Coal, OIl, Gas. Unless you get your power from Solar or Wind (not going to happen) your using F.F.
An Electric car uses no less fuel than a Gas powered one of the same weigh & HP.
Matter of fact it has MORE of an environmental impact.
The reason is that there is a very high loss of energy when compress air, (every felt the heat coming off an air compressor)?
The idea is idiotic

@TheVman551 Yeah, but the electricity in your wall outlet comes predominantly from fossil fuels. Yes, big generating stations are more efficient than a car-sized engine, but there is always some efficiency lost in the power conversion so the overall efficiency still isn’t that great a difference.

@Texmurphy51 the point is to save the enviornment, not to get better gas mileage. and the pump is electric. the car comes with a pump you plug into your home electrical outlet. your losing more energy gathering the petrolium in an oil rig, thats burning tons of gas itself, and using up thousands of wats of electricity. so no, its not BS.

This is BS, you still have to use power to compress the air so there is no reason why air should get better mpg then a gas engine. Matter of fact you will lose energy compressing the air. The secret is a very very light car.
However it might be better than battery cars since your not hauling around heavy batteries.
